The meeting to discuss locating skate park in the Maple Clair Park was not canceled as I stated in an earlier post.
Brian Milligan, Interim President of the St. Clair West Resident’s Association – SWRA – reported the following:
The meeting was “revised. It now states ”PROPOSED” FUTURE SKATEPARK DEVELOPMENT. So, it is not carved in stone. It also states that our Councillor, Frances Nunziata will be at the meeting.
If you are against the Skatepark in the Maple Clair Park, it’s important that as many people as possible come to the meeting otherwise the Parks Dept will try to ram it through. The meeting is in the George Bell Arena, 215 Ryding Ave. on Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 at 6:30 P.M.
There is obviously pressure being put onto the Parks Department to provide a SKATEBOARD PARK somewhere in the area. Perhaps if we came up with ideas about an alternative location, as far away from housing as possible, we could help them solve their problem.
Rather than just promoting N.I.M.B.Y.ism (Not In My Back Yard) we would show we are trying to co-operate with the Parks Dept. to help them solve their location problem. Let’s give them a positive approach rather than just being negative.
